Deva Premal – Gayatri Mantra (2 hours)

I heard this song being played in “Down to Earth” cafe in Ubud, Bali, recently, which sounded familiar. I am so glad to have managed to find it on Youtube.

Deep peace

A Gaelic Blessing
Deep peace of the running wave to you
Deep peace of the flowing air to you
Deep peace of the quiet earth to you
Deep peace of the shining stars to you
Deep peace of the gentle night to you
Moon and stars pour their healing light on you
Deep peace of Christ
Of Christ the Light of the world to you
Deep peace of Christ to You

Return to Peace

Video information

We need beauty, silence, stillness, and solitude. The photos are mine all taken during this past winter season in a landscape that so represents beauty, silence, stillness, and solitude to me.

The beautiful music is Dr Andrew Weil and Kimba Arem.

I enjoyed this music video very much. I like the sonorous guitar and evocative flute sounds which are peaceful and calming to listen to, and the nature scenery and pictures of birds such as the majestic eagles soaring complement the music very well. Like John Donohue said in his quote in the video, “Indeed, the beauty of nature is often the wisest calm”, and I feel as if I am transported into another realm where all is tranquil when listening to the mesmerising music.

Is there hope for the hopeless?

Is there hope for the hopeless?

Throw away your misconceptions
There’s no walls around Heaven
There’s no codes you gotta know to get in
No minutemen border patrol

You must lose your earthly possession
Leave behind your weapons
You can’t buy your salvation
And there is no pot of gold

Mmm Heaven, Heaven
What the hell is Heaven?
Is there a home for the homeless?
Is there hope for the hopeless?

Heaven aint got no prisons
No government, no business
No banks or politicians
No armies and no police

Castles and cathedrals crumble
Pyramids and pipelines tumble
The failure keeps you humble
And leads us closer to peace

Oh, Heaven, Heaven
What the hell is Heaven?
Is there a home for the homeless?
Is there hope for the hopeless?

Is there a home for the homeless?
Is there hope for the hopeless?

Beyond the rules of religion
The cloth of conviction
Above all the competition
Where fact and fiction meet

There’s no color lines cast or cla*ses
There’s no fooling the ma*ses
Whatever faith you practice
Whatever you believe

Oh, Heaven, Heaven
What the hell is Heaven?
Is there a home for the homeless?

I think this song dispels the myth of an exclusive heaven invented by evangelical Christianity that is only for elites. But the true heaven is already in our midst in the here and now. By giving up hope of a future heaven, it paradoxically restores hope for those who realise heaven our home is already in us – innocence, peace and joy.

Nirvana Shatakam

Video information

“The great Adi Shankara (first Shankaracharya) of the eighth century summarized the entirety of Advaita Vedanta (non-dualistic philosophy) in six stanzas. When a young boy of eight, while wandering in the Himalayas, seeking to find his guru, he encountered a sage who asked him, “Who are you?” The boy answered with these stanzas, which are known as “Nirvana Shatakam” or “Atma Shatakam.” “Nirvana” is complete equanimity, peace, tranquility, freedom and joy. “Atma” is the True Self. The sage the boy was talking to was Swami Govindapada Acharya, who was, indeed, the teacher he was looking for.”

It can happen, the more we imagine.
Feel the deepest part of your heart
and what it’s saying.
We are all connected by the stream.
A desire, a pull, toward peace.

The world is as we make it,
and NOW’s the time to take this leap.
The world is as we make it,
it’s time to celebrate our Peace.’

Beautiful Chorus with Peloton Corsica on production

Yes, it’s time to celebrate our Peace. Peace is who we are, and we are all connected by the stream of peace in our heart.

It reminds me of Neil deGrasse Tyson’s quote:

“We are all connected

to each other biologically

to the earth chemically

to the rest of the universe atomically”

May we all continue to celebrate the vibrations of peace in the atomic reality of our innermost beings.
